Apples, Apples, Apples!

Saturday October 22, 2005

What would Fall be without apples? Fall is apple season, so check your farmer's markets and groceries for locally grown beauties. There are literally thousands of varieties of apples. If you're lucky, you can find a farmer who grows an heirloom variety or two. Even if the supermarket is your only resource for apples, apples tend to be fresher (and cheaper) this time of year. There is nothing better than eating a fresh, juicy apple right out of your hand. But if you want to jazz it up a bit, here are a few recipes to satisfy your cravings:

Apple and Brie Soup
Apple Cider Sorbet
Oatmeal Apple Pancakes
Apple and Maple Caramel Cheesecake
Fall Fruit Salad with Apples, Pears, and Cranberries
BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Apple Chutney
