Will President Obama Appoint a New White House Chef?
President Bush was never big on formal affairs and this White House has not seen many State Dinners. The arrival of President Obama could change that and could signal the appointment of a new White House chef. Presidents are particular about their food and impressing world leaders with an amazing dinner can be an important part of diplomacy.
Coming from Chicago, it has been suggested Obama could ask Rick Bayless or Art Smith to take the post. It may be hard to get a celebrity chef to give up his restaurants to move into the White House and into the role of personal chef but stranger things have happened this election year. I love Rick Bayless but the President should certainly consider a woman chef. Current White House chef Cristeta Comerford is the first and only woman assigned to head the president's kitchen. Who would you like to see in the White House kitchen?

I would love a chance to be on the President-Elect’s culinary staff. With the new appointee jobs for 2009 coming up, I hope there’s a away to apply for that job! Going through Plum Book ‘08, I don’t see any culinary positions available.
It might behoove our new President to find someone undiscovered (like me)seeing that trying to get someone away from their restaurant my not work as easy. I’m sure those chef’s would have a hard time deciding whether or not to leave their businesses or become the personal chef of the President. Hard decision to make. Might be better off to get someone who is actually working towards the goal of being a personal chef already. like i said, I’d go!! I’m ready. I’ve got a huge repertoire of recipes and can create anything just from looking at a list of ingredients.
Chef Brett Moore. Obviously.
