Despite the unglamorous reality of a restaurant kitchen, many chefs today have achieved celebrity status. Chefs can be as famous as any movie star or professional athlete with their own fan clubs, paparazzi, and groupies (food groupies = froopies).
Even the chef that stays inside the boundaries of the kitchen and avoids the public may become a local celebrity if his food is any good.
Celebrity or not, being a chef is a hard and stressful job that deserves respect. Talent and dedication is what's behind a chef's success not necessarily good looks.
