Penny Cluse (169 Cherry St., 802-651-8834) This is my number one pick for breakfast in Burlington. A warm, bright dining room in a farmhouse style welcomes you to delicious breakfast dishes typically made in a Southwestern or Southern style. There is a very comfortable atmosphere and service is friendly. This is local favorite, so be prepared to wait in line.
Mirabelles (198 Main St., 802-658-3074) If youre looking for something good to eat, this is the place to go. Although Mirabelles serves breakfast and lunch, they are best known for their Parisian style desserts. A wonderful assortment of cakes, breads, and pastries fill the glass cases. Be sure to try one of the chocolate éclairs.
Lake Champlain Chocolates (65 Church St., 802-862-5185) Lake Champlain Chocolates have become famous across the country. Burlington is their home, however, and where it all started. Their factory is located at 750 Pine St., but the Church Street location offers a convenient interlude to your shopping. Stop in for a treat and watch as they melt chocolate in large copper kettles or roll some of their famous truffles. In warmer months you can also indulge in one of their signature ice creams
Sneakers (36 Main St. Winooski, 802-655-9081) A few blocks over is the old mill town of Winooski. Here youll find the retro-styled Sneakers, a delightful alternative for breakfast or lunch. Dont let the casual appearance fool you; they have some really good food here.
