Restaurants are a natural accompaniment to hotels. Whether travelling for pleasure or business, most hotel guests will seek sustenance of some type. Those who are particular about their sleeping accommodations will most likely care about where they dine. A good hotel restaurant that complements the style of the hotel will enhance the overall experience of the guests. In addition, a restaurant with good reviews will attract more business to the hotel.

On February 13, 2006 IN New York Magazine, in cooperation with the Hotel Association of New York City, held their 2005 Hotel Experience Awards (HEA). The HEA award winners are selected by NYC hotel visitors. Award categories included Best Concierge Services, Best Room Amenities, Best Hotel Restaurants, Best Family-friendly Hotel, Best Business Services, and Best Overall Hotel Experience. Each award category had two separate awards, one for hotels with more than 500 rooms and one for hotels with 500 rooms or less.

Many of the award winners host highly acclaimed restaurants, for instance Alain Ducasse's at the Essex House.
I've listed below each winner the notable restaurants to be found at that hotel.
