Originally published in the early 1970s, two culinary classics by Nicolas Freeling have been combined into one volume. The Kitchen is about Freeling's years working in restaurants in France and Great Britain, a sort of Kitchen Confidential for the seventies. Anthony Bourdain has stated that The Kitchen was actually his inspiration for his revealing book.
The Cook is a collection of Freeling's musings on food and life, complete with recipes. Both books are full of humor and insight.
